SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)/SOURCES SOUGHT Phacoemulsification System THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) / SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This is not a solicitation for bids, proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this RFI/Sources Sought Notice is for market research purposes only, to obtain information in regards to the availability of specified products, services, or a combination of both products and services, and to identify potential sources capable of providing products or performing services in accordance with the requirements below. Responses to this notice will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. DISCLAIMER: This RFI/Sources Sought Notice is issued solely for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. All information received in response to this RFI/Sources Sought Notice that is marked as proprietary will be handled accordingly. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Responders are solely responsible for all expenses associated with responding to this RFI. If a solicitation is issued it shall be published at a later date and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the response to this RFI/Sources sought notice. Responses to this sources sought notice are not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. Submission of price, delivery, capabilities, and other market information are authorized. However, responses to these notices are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract IAW FAR 15.201(e). The purpose of this sources sought/RFI is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification relative to NAICS 339113 (size standard of 800 Employees). DESCRIPTION: The Department of Veteran Affairs, Network Contracting Office 15 (NCO 15) is seeking sources that can provide phacoemulsification systems in accordance with (IAW) the below requirement and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 339113 with a size standard of 800 employees. Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA) Surgical Services Ophthalmology department is requesting a phacoemulsification system for use in the OR. Phacoemulsification systems are specialized medical devices used in cataract surgery to emulsify and remove the eye's natural lens that has developed an opacification (clouding), which is commonly known as a cataract. General Scope of Work: This unit will be used for cataract surgery and most other intraocular procedures, including vitrectomy, and electrocautery in the OR. It can also be used for retinal surgeries. Salient Characteristics- Phacoemulsification system: Ultrasound Power Modulation: Ability to adjust the power and frequency of ultrasound waves to emulsify the lens efficiently and with minimal damage to surrounding tissues. Aspiration and Irrigation Systems: Efficient fluid management systems to maintain anterior chamber stability and to remove emulsified lens material while providing irrigation to keep the eye's structures cool and clear. User Interface: Intuitive and customizable user interfaces, typically featuring touch screens, foot pedals, and handpieces that allow for precise control during surgery. Safety Features: Integrated real-time monitoring of intraocular pressure, flow rates, and vacuum levels to prevent complications and ensure patient safety. Automatic shutdown or alert systems in case of irregularities. Energy Efficiency: Enhanced energy delivery systems to reduce the amount of heat generated within the eye, thereby minimizing the risk of thermal injury. Handpieces: Ergonomically designed, lightweight handpieces that facilitate precise movement and control. Multiple handpiece options for different surgical techniques and preferences. Programmable Settings: Customizable settings for different surgeons or different stages of the surgery, allowing for personalized operation. Compatibility: Compatibility with various surgical instruments, tips, and accessories that may be needed during different stages of the cataract surgery. Portability: Compact and portable design for easier transport and storage, especially in multi-operating room settings or mobile surgical units. Maintenance and Sterilization: Easy-to-clean components and materials that can be sterilized and maintained with minimal effort to ensure longevity and patient safety. Advanced Technologies: Integration of advanced technologies such as torsional or rotational ultrasound, or laser-assisted features for enhanced precision and outcomes. Training: If training is required it must be provided to the users within One (1) month of delivery and installation.
